Kali Linux for Windows 10 Available in Microsoft Store

Microsoft continues to amaze us with radical changes to its commitment to open-source software. Now Kali Linux for Windows is available in the Microsoft Store, along with other distributions like Ubuntu and SUSE.

You may not be familiar with Kali Linux, as this distribution focuses on security and penetration testing.

To successfully install Linux Distributions distributed in the Microsoft Store, you have to do the following:

  1.  Open Powershell as Administrator in Windows 10
  2. Run this command:
    Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux
  3. Let Windows restart.
  4. Click the following links to download your favorite Linux Distro: Ubuntu, SUSE, Kali

I must warn you though, this is only a shell with your favorite Linux distribution, no graphical output is to be expected but everything else seems to work just fine.

Have fun.

I created this page to share my know-how about computers. I am a System Administrator, working in the IT field for almost 17 years and I thought the world needed another blogger to help beginners. English is not my mother language, so excuse me if I write politically incorrect stuff. I probably did not mean that 😉
